Putting the DANG! in Dangerous

The Week that Changed Our Life

Christian rapper KB is not just a recording artist, but he is also an author. I have not read his book, Dangerous Jesus, but I do agree with the title of the book and what seems to be the message: “Jesus …poses a living threat to the status quo. He’s a threat to our division. He’s a threat to our rebellion. He is the kind of dangerous that is so infused with power from on high that nothing stays the same when He walks into the room.”

And that is why Prescott, Arizona is one of the most dangerous places in the world. One year ago, my wife and I accepted an invitation to spend a week in the picture-esque wintery mountains of that little town.

Little did we know our life would never be the same.

We were attending a Bible conference in Prescott, AZ. That Thursday afternoon we went out for lunch with our pastor and his wife. As lunch wrapped up and we prepared to get up and leave, our pastor casually rolled a question across the table that caught us completely off guard.

We drove back to our hotel, stunned. Did that really just happen? Did he really just ask us that?

He asked us if we would be willing to become missionaries and move our family to Brazil.

Nine months after that Thursday afternoon lunch, we were boarding a plane on a Thursday evening. And here we are, a full year later: missionaries in Brazil.

That little town of Prescott has changed the world because of “dangerous” Jesus and their commitment to be witnesses to his resurrection. This past week they hosted their 2025 Prescott Bible Conference. Obviously, due to my geographic location I was not able to attend, but I did stream each featured speakers’ sermon.

January 2025 Prescott Bible Conference

These men are pastors and preachers from all over the United States and the world. Some of them have been pastoring for 50 years and have served and led people in only-God-knows how many nations.

If you want a master-class on leadership, this was it. If you want a master-class on people skills, this is it. If you want a master-class on public speaking, this was it. If you want a master-class on “is God real?”, this was it. And if you want to take a risk and try something dangerous, listen to the messages. And if you’re really feeling courageous, attend the conference next time and see if your life stays the same.

In all, there were 17 messages, and I have listed my top takeaway(s) from each message below. Obviously, there are tons more things I could have included, but for brevity's sake, I think it is much more reasonable to give you 17 as opposed to 92.

  1. Greg Mitchell: “Time” - Understand the time you have is a second chance. It is more than just time to do what you want. Use the time God has given you to do God’s will.

  2. Kevin Foley: “Jesus Builds” - Preach Jesus. Don’t rely on external structures or programs. Jesus will build His church.

  3. Jesse Cluck: “Sanctified to Sanctify” - Holiness and Christian conduct are the product of a committed relationship with Jesus.

  4. Paul Stephens: “Consider Your Destiny” - You stop fighting when you are complacent. The complacent don’t survive. Fight.

  5. Joe Campbell: “The Night is Coming” - Have a sense of urgency regarding your opportunities.

  6. Scott Lamb: “The Indwelling Spirit” - Completely and comprehensively, the Christian life is the result of a deep, intimate relationship with Jesus. My body, His life.

  7. Nigel Brown: “The Day for Worrying” - When the time comes for you to deal with a problem or a difficult situation, God has already provided the resources you need to deal with it. You are going to make it.

  8. Harold Warner: “The Secret Key” - Godliness with contentment is great gain. I am self-sufficient in the sufficiency of Christ.

  9. Richard Rubi: “Do You Love Your Church?” - The dignity and absolute necessity of “small” local churches.

  10. Jonathan Heimburg: “Double or Nothing” - Going and giving are one in the same (missionary works).

  11. TJ Motokula: “Upon Which Rock?” - Religion or Relationship? Religion or revival? Religion controls mans’ hands, but relationship redeems the heart. Preach Jesus. *this was my favorite sermon*

  12. Sergei Golubev: “Diamonds in Your Church” - Speak vision into people and protect and empower them to attempt to realize the destiny God has for them.

  13. Daryl Elliott: “Other Cities” - The Holy Spirit is a missionary spirit.

  14. Roman Gutierrez: “Emotional Anguish” - Do not allow emotional anguish to continue to hurt you and others. Forgiveness kills the “swamp monster” (trauma).

  15. Paki Raj: “Minis-tree” - How to process and respond to deep, emotional wounds. Calvary is a perpetual soul-searching where we receive the perpetual mercy and grace of God.

  16. Mark Aulson: “Moses’ Missionary Model” - Build Kingdom culture, not man-made culture. Not everyone will be thrilled with your arrival or sacrifice. God gives supernatural credentials.

  17. Greg Mitchell: “Enabling Ministry” - God’s plans are worthless if you do not respond. You have no idea what you set in motion when you say, “Yes.” The power of partnership, commitment and recovery.

At the end of the week, 16 other married couples made life changing commitments. Ten new missionary churches and six withing the US.

Christian Fellowship Ministries, headquartered in Prescott, Arizona, now has over 4,000 churches.
