There’s a Pill for Everything
Except Rest
I’m on vacation this week, so this post will be short. I’m taking time off and you should too.
I won’t bore you with the history of vacation and the science behind it. You can ask Chat GPT about that on your own time. But the fact is, humans need rest. And yes, you are a human so you need rest.
If you are like most people, you don’t sleep 7-9 hours a night, and when the weekend comes…you’re not taking it easy. Just like when it’s time for vacation - you jam vacation full of all kinds of activities that are anything but restful. It’s so bad, we laugh about it when we get back to work, “Now I need to take time off to recover from vacation.” Tell me if I’m lying.
That’s bad for your mental health. You need rest. Don’t feel bad about that or ashamed of it.
Stop being busy and do nothing. Like, for real, just sit back and relax without even watching a movie. Do nothing.
Unfortunately, although we take pills for everything, there is no “chill pill.” There is no substitute for rest.
It’s not laziness. Its rest. And you need it.
