This will be the fourth time I use the Iran War to illustrate the spiritual realm. I am starting to feel like the people who search for biblical parallels in all the Spider Man movies. They just want an excuse to watch movies. I am trying to provoke you to greater and more proftable faith.
In the latest phase of this war, Trump announced “Project Freedom.” US Navy ships and other attack vehicles would be escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz. They claimed to have de-mined the routes and were guaranteeing safe passage for any ships. The Operation was short-lived, and deemed successful, but that is besides the point.
At the same time, some things were going on in my life prompting me to ask God, “What do Your angels do?”
Upon further prayer, refection, and consulting trusted theology, my conclusion is we should expect God’s angels to be active in our lives much like Operation Project Freedom.
Get Off of My Cloud
We’ve all seen the cartoons of angels sitting on clouds playing a harp. We’ve all also remarked how terrible heaven would be if that were accurate. Thankfully, it is not. Angels do much more than that.
This is not an exposition of angelology, but the Bible does show us that angels are used in God’s warfare. We see several cases of this in the Old Testament:
The physical battles in the Old Testament were simultaneously physical and spiritual. Now we must understand we no longer fight physically but spiritually. Those Old Testament battles show us what is happening spiritually. And make no mistake, the battle is real.
I once heard Pastor Wayman Mitchel say he was asked if he ever read the graphic spiritual warfare novels by Frank Peretti. His reply was, “No, because I live them.”
Spiritual warfare is real, and angels are God’s warriors in battle.
Psalm 91
I am not promoting angel worship, or trying to make you believe in guardian angels. But we should recognize their presence and participation in divine intervention in our lives. This includes the flow of resources to and from our lives.
Look at it from the opposite angle: not every nail in your tire is a demon. However, we know fallen angels are active. We know witchcraft is real. We would be foolish to ignore this fact.
We would also be foolish to ignore God’s warrior agents who act on our behalf. Many people have stories of what can only be explained as angelic intervention: mysterious rescues in car accidents, a hard fall that landed softly, dreams, etc.
As we attempt to operate and traffic in a dangerous world, we need to be confident that we are under the divine protection of God’s escort. This should give us comfort and boldness to move forward. You have places to go, people to serve and save, and God’s will to accomplish. Do not fear Satan’s demon mosquito feet.
God’s forces can act with deadly precision, or take out an army with one strike (remember, the battle is spiritual!). The Lord of the Universe is before you, behind you, beside you, above you and beneath you. He is with you.
Nothing Nice to Say?
We’ve all been told, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” This is a good principle.
But have you ever thought about why it is so hard to say something nice? Why is it so easy to say something negative, while saying something positive so hard? The resistance you feel is proof of its power.
You must speak as a positive response to the reality of God’s involvement. When you declare this truth over your life you activate it. You will live in the world you create with your speech.
Activate this in your life, specifcally in your fnances. Speak that your finances and resources and assets will get to where they need to be, unharmed and on time.
Do the same for your friends and partners so they also will have their assets in safe passage.
Not a dog’s tongue will wag against them. Not a mosquito (boat) will harass them. The lion’s mouths will be closed. May judgment fall upon the fool who throws rocks at you. The Lord will rebuke your adversary.
TL;DR
You must wake up to the fact that your enemy wishes you serious harm. It is foolish to be a spiritual a pacifist, as if placing daisies in the barrels of Satan’s weapons is going to dissuade him. He only repects power. So break a piece off the ol’ rugged cross and shank him.
Remember how earlier I said I was talking to God about what his angels are supposed to do? Well, now you have a glimpse of how that prayer session went.
It is God’s will that you prosper. He has given you His word, His Best, and Heaven’s fleet of winged warriors to demolish every demonic influence attempting to resist and disrupt.
My point is to not make you a demon hunter, nor to make you create the Christian version of Angel’s in the Outfield. The point is to give you confidence and inspire you to act with forward motion.
The Lord is with you. Do you believe?
